Culturally or intentionally modified teeth are often encountered in archaeological sites in the Philippines dating since the protohistoric period up to as late as the twentieth century. The present paper reports the most common dental modifications so far encountered in sites we have excavated in Luzon and the Visayas, two of the three major island groups of the Philippine archipelago. The most common dental modifications including staining, filing, and drilling and in-laying. Similar modifications have been mentioned in various ethnographic accounts on different Philippine groups and have been described also in other archaeological sites in Continental Southeast Asia.
