| Abstract: | Most of the archaeological research on sites of the Sa Huynh Culture has been on the coastal plains of central Vietnam. This paper focuses on the Sa Huynh Culture in the inland mountainous area behind the coast and emphasizes that, not only the coastal, but also the riverine aspect of the Sa Huynh Culture deserves serious attention. The reconnaissance surveys by the author and her colleagues revealed the distribution of sites in the middle and upper reaches of the Thu Bon River Valley in Quang Nam Province. Based on the results of excavations carried out the significance of the riverine Sa Huynh Culture is discussed. |
