Abstract:	It is well known that there is a close relationship between a geomorphic surface and the soil on it. Earlier, I have reported on the Quaternary stratigraphy of the Central Plain and the Northern Basins of Thailand, and examined some properties of the Quaternary substrata and soils in the Lampang Basin. I concluded that the soils on Terrace III were derived from younger deposits than those of the underlying (Hattori, 1970). This report deals with the parent materials and the formation processes of soils on the Terrace III.
