The article discusses archaeological research from the 1960s-2000s on the prehistory of Southeast Asia. The author describes moving to New Zealand to study prehistory of the region and lists archaeological excavations in Thailand at sites including Spirit Cave, Non Nok Tha, Ban Kao, Banyan Valley Cave, Khok Phanom Di, and Khok Charoen. The author analyzes archaeological findings on prehistoric Southeast Asia on topics including the Neolithic Age, origins of agriculture, the Bronze Age, the Iron Age, and origins of civilisation. Also discussed are archaeologists including Peter Bellwood, Chester Gorman, and David Clark.
