Abstract: In this article the writer intended to give first a historical retrospect of the explorations and studies of the vertebrate fossils in the Chinese and adjacent lands on the Asiatic continent, and secondly brief accounts of the most prolific fossil localities and fossiliferous deposits, as well as important or interesting faunal elements found in the successive geological formations in the order of the Triassic, Trias-Jurassic, Upper Jurassic, Cretaceous, Paleogene, Miocene, Lower Pliocene, Middle and Upper Pliocene, Lower Pleistocene, Middle and Upper Pleistocene, and Alluvial.
