Abstract: In this article, I summarize the Thailand finds at Spirit Cave (domesticated plants before 9700 B.C., a copper, socketed tool at 3500 B.C., and double-mold, bronze casting by 2300 B.C.)
and supporting data from other Southeast Asian locations. Technological development for Southeast Asia from 25,000 to 1 B.C. is summarized, and a developmental framework for Southeast Asian prehistory and the spread of these developments follows. Southeast Asian contributors to world culture are cited, and I conclude with a brief discussion of the problems significant to world cultural change suggested by these developments.
