Abstract: Spinning of thread and weaving of cloth are the important handicrafts of ancient Vietnamese. Based on the archaeological data in comparison with ethnological data and the study cloth mark by microscope and chemical analysis of quality, the author ensured that people in the Metal Age were aware of spinning-weaving in the service of daily living activities. The technique and quality of cloth reached the high standard. Fibers were removed from tropic trees such a jutes, ramies . . . According to the author, in the Dong Son time, the spinning of thread and the wearing of cloth were only household-based non-specialist production.
