Abstract: English summary on page 28 as follows:Several guessings have been given to the utility of artefacts made from the shell of dry calabash, such as: dipper, ladle, pan-flute (khene), tea-set... which archaeological excavations used to get from pirogue-coffins. The author, after studying calabash in Xuan la burial in relation to that in Viet Khe, Lang Vac and ethnological materials, holds that the calabash in Xuan La and Chau Can buriald had been used as dipper or ladle. however, he does not not deny other functions of calabash and gourd in general.
