English summary on page 73 as follows: On the basis of articles made from dry calabash (gourd0 by Vietnamese and SEA people, seen in various angles: botany, archaeology, mythology ethnology, linguistics... the author confirms the role of calabash and gourd in the tradidional culture of VietNamese and SEA nations, It has been found that our forefathers in their harmonious life with nature, had explored everything from the latter to beautify their living. Through this fact, one may understand better the homogeneous traits of old culture among Vietnamese, SEA and South Chineseethnics, in the context if a zone of history and culture. One may also talk of a « calabash culture » of prehistoric people in this region.
