English summary on page 91 as follows: A panorama of the opinions past and present as well on rice seeds and on the process of rice cultivation in Viet Nam. From the biologic aspects of the rice plant it may be generalized: the rice plants start living in the marshy lands, are then brought on dry lands and got down afterwards to the low plains. The main data for reconstructing the agricultural aspect during the Hung King's epoch are archaeological ones: seeds and agricultural implements. Burned grains of paddy from Dong Dau are of rounded - grain type. Implements are of stone such as axes, hoes, of bronze suchas plough-blades, sickles, reaping knives, or wood such as hoes. The middle region seems to be the earliest center of rice cultivation in northern Viet Nam, then came the low plains, and during the later period it emerged a subsidiary trend of development towards the uplands.
