Report on the excavation of ten skeletons from P'ong Tük along the Mekong River with no burial context for dating. suggested they were from the first century B.C. All skeletons were lying full length with heads roughly pointing to the west. Three skulls were sent England for further examination on ethnicity with the report as follows: "The skulls are certainly not Indian and they to be those of thai people since they exactly resemble the Siamese skulls in the museum of the R.C.S., and show the same filing of the teeth. pg 90 While no definite deductons ma be made, it appears to point to the conclusion that Thai colonies were already established in the Meklong valley in the early centuries of the Christian era
and thus it may be that existing theories on Thai immigration into Siam will have to be revised.
