Title: Between-population variation in pre-adolescent growth
Date: 1994
Source: European Journal of Clinical Nutrition
Abstract: In this article it is concluded that the growth patterns of all population groupings are likely to have similar genetic potential, with the exception of Asiatics. This conclusion though is partially based on sparse data from Asia. It is suggested that the growth references for height by age in current international use are at best only imperfect yardsticks for nutritional assessment. While population specific growth standards should be used when assessing a certain population, international standards can be used.
