| Abstract: | Since 1989 the author has examined the dating of the spread of pottery-using agricultural cultures through Island SE Asian and into the Pacific in a series of papers which examine critically the radiocarbon corpus and its interpretation. Since the last published update on this project a lot of new data have become available, prompting the current review. Considerations of the fit between the archaeological evidence and that derived from linguistics are made and the issue of unrecognised site disturbance as contributing to confusing in constructing regional chronologies is also addressed. |
