Abstract:	This paper examines the relationship between the prehistoric period of Neolithic/Bronze Age and the historic period represented by the Han, Six Dynasties and Tang dynasties. Neolithic and Bronze Age sites are described and the issue of a possible hiatus between late prehistoric and early prehistoric periods is discussed, using available C14 dates.
