Conditions in the Federation in 1951 have again prevented any serious archaeological work being undertaken. However, early in the year the present writer was appointed to act as Director of Museums in addition to his permanent appointment as Adviser on Aborigines and as a result was able to take Museum personnel on field trips. As a consequence a considerable amount of archaeological material was recovered from some areas. In addition several State Governments agreed to restrict the removal of guano until archaeological excavations could be completed. Special mention must be made of the British Adviser, Perlis, the Hon'ble Mr. M. J. Hayward, whose prompt report to the Selangor Museum, led to the preservation of a magnificent collection of pottery and artifacts from an important Neolithic burial.
