Abstract: The analysis of necropolises and burials constitutes an essential step in the archaeological studies of Southeast Asia, integrating both the offerings and the physical characteristics of the buried individuals. These elements occupy a central place in the chronocultural definition of the Protohistory of the region and are constitutive of biocultural reconstructions. However, the study of funerary practices remains a marginal part of the investigations that are carried out in this region. The results available are most often generalizations that appear to be abusive, as the dead are directly transcribed as the faithful reflection of the living. The influence of funerary practices on population samples is largely elided in the socioeconomic restitutions of the past without taking into account the various filters that are the consequences of the activities of the burial population.
