Abstract: One of the primary goals of island archaeology is to capture what living on islands must have been like. Archaeologists little excuse to assume islands are necessarily socially isolated. The cultural response to these ecosystems to is typically increase interaction with other places. It is no longer possible to describe islands as "cultural laboratories."
