| Abstract: |
Having entered the field of research after working in Cambodia for the United Nations in the early 1990s, Sally Frances Low completed a doctoral thesis in 2012 under the supervision of David Chandler, and this book, which follows a previously published article (Low 2016), is the culmination of that work. While it has the merit of addressing a little-studied subject—the legal dimension of the French Protectorate of Cambodia, including its post-colonial consequences—it suffers from the drawback of doing so in a superficial manner.
