Abstract:	The paper reports on Late Pleistocene flaked stone assemblages from two sites, Tingkayu 1 and 2, located on the edge of a former lake basin in Sabah, northeastern Borneo, East Malaysia. The industry includes bifaces made on a grey to pink chert which is quite different to lithic material found in later sites in the region. The material can be dated to between 18, 000 - 28, 000 BP and represents an Upper Palaeolithic tradition previously unknown in Southeast Asia.
