Abstract:	The life of King Jayavarman II is known from epigraphic data, especially the Sdok Kak Thom inscription and the fact that he lived and was consecrated as a cakravartin on Mahendra mountain (Phnom Kulên) is considered highly symbolic. In this paper I produce evidence for a new ceremony liberating the Khmer land from Java and try to understand the life of Jayavarman II in a fresh way.
