Abstract:	A small Pejeng-type drum from Java, received in fragmentary condition, was conserved at the Institute of Archaeology. Metallographic and SEM/EDAX analyses showed that the body and tympanum had been cast separately from copper-tin-lead alloys. The results of these analyses, together with those of visual examination are used to describe its method of manufacture. Steps taken to conserve and rejoin the fragments to form an almost complete drum are described below.
