Abstract:	A review is presented of the evidence for Late Pleistocene ostrich eggshell engraving and shaping in India. The engraved specimen from Patne, dated to c. 25,000 years ago, is considered authentic, as are some specimens of ostrich eggshell beads. All other examples of putative carving on ostrich eggshell from India are considered to be probably of natural origin
