Abstract: The distribution of the late neolithic sites in Tay Bac (The Northwest area) in our country is geographical and regional as well as in the direction of terrain: limestone valleys and ancient river beds. The characteristics of the collected artifacts present the distribution of the types of stone tools here in comparison with those of other areas. Axes (adzes or stone hoes) with sloping shoulders in Viet Bac or Dong Bac are popular while the type with square shoulders is the most prevalent in Tay Bac. In a similar comparison, it is possible to see that polished axes in Tay Nguyen are "trapezoid", in Tay Bac this type is almost absent.
