Abstract: After introducing the archaeological site Ba Xa, the article describes, classifies in details 296 pottery sherds collected from the recent investigation in Ba Xa cave, in March 1997. The pottery collection, based on the decoratives, is classified into four groups: The first one with average cord-marked designs
the second one with fine cord-marked designs
the third one with incised designs and the fourth one without designs. Each group is again sorted out according to the materials, the pottery forms, the colour, the width . . . They were initially compared to Mai Pha pottery and revealed a similar characteristics between the two sites. Due to all the artifacts, especially the pottery, Ba Xa site is arranged in the Mai Pha Culture.
