Abstract: Previously, the scholars in the country and abroad just knew some ceramic manufacturing centres such as Bat Trang, Tho Ha, Phu Lao... And they all assumed that blue and white ceramics had belonged to Bat Trang kiln. due to this, a lot of problems as their origins, dates were confused. Remarkably, when studying Vietnam blue and white ceramics, a numer of foreign scholars often based on criteria of Chinese ones to define and classify them. Therefore they made mistakes when they stated that Vietnam blue and white ceramics were lack of creativeness and often immitated the styles of Chinese ceramics through stages. In this way, they consideres Vietnam blue and white ceramics as a "miracle local type" of the Chinese ones. Based on the discoveries and excavations of manufacturing centres of blue and white ceramics in Hai Duong Province, the article presents evidences of traditional, creative and original characteristics of Vietnam blue and white ceramics, developing from the jourteenth century to the eighteeth century.
