The Institute Archaeology took the third excavation of Mai Da Dieu site (Thanh Hoa province) at the end of 1995. As a recult, Dieu site contains three cultural layers corresponding to three different strata. 1- The lower stratum belongs to the Late Pleistocene, with fossile animal bones and teeth, dating from about 25,000-30,000 BP. stone artifacts made of pebbles
some made of quartz, popular types belong to the traditional tool groups- Chopper-Chopping tools
besides there is a factor of the initial Hoa Binhian tools. 2- The middle stratum has sticked sediment with shells and unfossil animal bones and teeth, dating from about 15,000-25,000 BP. Typical stone tools are triangle ones with high arch, sumatralith tools were rare. 3- The upper layer belongs to friable sediment with a lot of shells and burials. The speculated date is from 8,000-14,000 BP. Typical tools are bifaces made from flakes, large stone cores and pestles.
