After analyzing the sites and the artifacts of the Metal Age in the north mountainous area, comparing them with other sites and artifacts existed at the same time in the plain in the North Vietnam as well as in the neighborhood on the other site of the northern border, the author comes to conclusion: There was a mountainous local variant of the Dong Son Culture. Mountainous features left clearly on the basic bronze artifacts of the Dong Son Culture. This culture variant had a large area of distribution, spreading to the other side of the national border line. Studying the Metal Age artifacts from this periphery, setting them in the cultural context - the South Culture, the author initially states that there is a cultural complex with Dong Son style of Bai Yue (Hundred Yue) community mentioned in the historical records: Au Viet (Ou Yue) and Lac Viet (Luo Yue) people. The mountainous features of the Dong Son Culture express the dominant characteristics of ethnic factors of Au (Ou).
