On the basis of analyses of the data collected from the excavation at Mai Pha site (Lang Son prov) by the Institute of Archaeology and the Lang Son Museum in May 1996 in the combination with the study of the interrelation between Mai Pha and other sites in the area, the authors have affirmed the real existence of the Late Neolithic - Early Metal Age culture in the prehistory of Lang Son. The significance of the identify of the culture, "Mai Pha culture", allowes the archaeologists to link one more successive culture after the Bac Son one in the mountainous area of Lang Son, at the same time added a new colour to the colourful picture of the Late Neolithic - Early Metal Age culture in Vietnnam.
