Inscriptions on the hard materials like wood, bronze, stone - chiefly on stone stelea - are important writing data in the cultural heritage of Vietnam. At the present, in the store of inscription at the Institute of Sino-Nom Studies, there are over 20 thousand of rubbings from more than 11 thousand stelea, bells, gongs, wooden tablets, of which the content can serve as sources of many branches of study. The Sino-Nom engraved texts of Vietnam have been selected and introduced in some works, but the continuation of collection of the inscription rubbings is very necessary for the epigraphy of this field.
