In Binh Dinh, Vijaya, the old capital of Champa (the 11th-15th centuries) remained the vestiges of 3 citadels which were investigated and studied. Based on the archaeological data in comparison with historical documents, the author restored three old citadels and defines their roles in the history of VijaYa. Thi Nai citadel with the main function of commercial port of Vijaya area existed through the history, especially developed splendidly in the Vijaya period and ended its role in 1471. An Thanh citadel was used to be the capital of Champa Kingdom from the 11th to the 13th centuries. Do Ban citadel was the centre of religion at first, then it became the capital of Champa from the 13th to 15th centuries due to the changes in the history of Champa Kingdom.
