G. Maspero's Le Royaume de Champa and other works by colonial scholars seemingly overemphasise on the political aspect and apparently dismissed other essential aspects of Champa history - an acient kingdom once existed and flourished in the east coast of Mainland Southeast Asia, including the economic activities. The EFEO-revisionist school, although having contributed significantly to promote new understanding on Champa history, paid very limited attention to investigate the commercial activities and the trade connections in Champa history. The picture has been only changed recently when scholars of Neo-revisionist School have started to study this prominent issue in Champa history. In my paper, therefore, I aim at reconstructing an economic history of mandala Champa that took place in Champa during the period from the tenth to the thirteenth centuries CE.
