| Abstract: |
There have been numerous previous efforts to furnish scholars with some idea of the range of Indonesian manuscript materials in individual collections. Many great philologists have been engaged in such work: H. Chambert-Loir, H.I.R. Hinzler, C. Hooykaas, L. Manik, F.H. van Naerssen, Th. G. Pigeaud, R.M. Poerbatjaraka, Ph.S. van Ronkel, P. Voorhoeve and P.J. Zoetmulder are the foremost names associated with published Indonesian manuscript catalogues. Catalogues of the Yogyakarta and Surakarta manuscript libraries have previously been compiled by N. Girardet and R.M. Mudjanattistomo, but the works under review here are far more comprehensive.
